The City's current efforts to develop climate adaptation strategies to reduce future risks and costs from climate change has been highlighted on a new "best practices" website, the Climate Adaptation Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) at http://www.cakex.org/node/2725. Based on the recommendations of the Climate Change Working Group, City staff from multiple departments are creating implementation plans for the 11 new strategies which will be presented to City Council in April for final consideration.

These new strategies will complement the City's existing climate "mitigation" measures which focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by converting to alternative fuel vehicles, improving energy and water efficiency, installing renewable energy systems, and creating more walkable, transit-friendly neighborhoods.
