The blue recycling cart comes in two sizes: 64 and 96 gallons. If you need an additional recycle cart, they are available at no extra charge. Make sure that lids remain closed -- it prevents littering and protects the contents from weather and pests.
PLEASE DON'T MIX RECYCLABLES WITH TRASH!!
Recyclables that are contaminated must be disposed of as trash, defeated the whole purpose of recycling!

Free Used Oil & Filter Recycling

Chula Vista Residential Households
You have two options to recycle your used oil and filters:
- Bring your used oil and filters to the nearest Certified Collection Center. Call 1(800) 237-2583 for the nearest location.
- Arrange for curbside collection by calling Allied Waste Services at 421-9400 at least 48 hours before your regular collection day.
Chula Vista Apartment/Condo Residents

Bring your used oil and filters to the nearest Certified Collection Center. Call 1(800) 237-2583 for the nearest location.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 1800 Maxwell Road, Chula Vista also accepts oil.
TIP: Remember to fully drain your oil filter for at least 24 hours and place it in a non-breakable container with a watertight lid.
Recycle Your Cooking Oil
Single-Family Households
- Place your used cooking oil in a bottle or container with a watertight lid.
- Call Allied Waste at (619) 421-9400 two days before your regular collection day, then put your oil at the curb for pickup.
-OR-
- Take your oil to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility* located at 1800 Maxwell Road on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm (except holiday weekends).
Chula Vista Apartment/Condo Residents
* The facility will only accept oil from residential users. Oil must be strained to remove large food particles. Cooking oil contaminated with toxic or hazardous material or oil that is stored in a container that held hazardous material will not be accepted.
Business Recycling Guidelines
- Per Chula Vista Municipal Code 8.25.050 it is mandatory that all businesses in Chula Vista recycle a variety of materials (please see below).
- Allied Waste Services (619) 421-9400 can provide collection of recyclable materials such as food and beverage container recycling at no additional cost to all hospitality-type businesses that sell or serve food or drinks to its customers or employees. Mixed paper and cardboard recycling bins are also available at a reduced rate established by the City.
- Businesses may also sell or donate recyclable and reusable materials to an alternate recycling or reuse company.

- Allied Waste Services can also provide recycling for clean loads of concrete, asphalt and wood if your business is going through a remodeling or building project. Additional materials may be recyclable as well, check with Allied Waste Services before co-mingling the materials with trash.
- The State mandates that each city and county and its respective residents and businesses reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills each year by 50%. Reuse and recycling are good for the environment and will help you keep your business waste costs down.
