The City of Chula Vista’s Animal Care Facility has kicked off a pet food donation drive to support the orphaned animals at the city’s only shelter. With the ever-increasing demands on the City owned shelter, combined with today’s economic conditions, homeless pets at the facility are always in need of the basics – including food.
The community is being asked to support the effort by donating new, unopened containers of pet food through May 31. Collection bins have been placed at seven different locations throughout the city, including all Chula Vista public libraries, the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, City Hall, and Montevalle and Veterans’ Park recreation centers. “The idea came from our City Council’s Animal Care Subcommittee, and we were happy to roll out this campaign with their support. The Animal Care Facility has limited resources and donations of pet food are always welcome. We are thankful for the community support we receive in so many ways – our community’s never-ending generosity allows staff and volunteers to focus their energies on what they do best – helping animals in need.” said Deputy City Manager Leah Browder.
The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is located at 130 Beyer Way and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please call (619) 691-5124.
