November is a perfect time for kids to “Tackle a Good Book” by signing up for this popular sports-themed reading program offered by the Chula Vista Public Library. Children and teens are encouraged to participate in this free program at any of the city’s three library branches throughout November.
“Football season is a great time of year to get kids interested in reading about sports,” said Joy Whatley, the library’s Teen Services Manager. “This in one of three free reading programs that the library presents during the year to promote reading for children and teens.”
Participants in the program read a specified amount of hours or a certain number of books and then visit their branch to receive rewards. Sponsored by the library and the Friends of the Chula Vista Public Library, “Tackle a Good Book” continues until Nov. 30. As part of the library’s efforts to “go green”, teens will participate in the program via the library’s website at www.chulavistalibrary.com. Children will register online, but will continue to also use the accompanying paper log of books read.
