Get Ready, Census Starts Next Week! |

Chula Vista residents should have already received a letter in the mail this week from the US Census Bureau announcing the arrival of the actual Census Form next week. Residents should be pleasantly surprised when the form arrives -- the 2010 census form is one of the shortest in history. The questionnaire asks only 10 questions this year, and census officials estimate that it can be completed in just 10 minutes.

March Madness at the Nature Center |

The Chula Vista Nature Center presents another "Critters & Cocktails" event on Thursday, March 18. Television news veteran and nature lover, Loren Nancarrow, will be attending with his "green" Sequoia Solar products. The event, scheduled from 6-8 p.m., will feature other earth-friendly vendors and close encounters with animals from the Nature Center. Organic drinks and refreshments will be provided.

Library to Show Free Independent Films |

Independent foreign films are back for an encore at the Civic Center branch and the South Chula Vista branch Libraries on Sundays in February and March. The movies start at 2 p.m. both at the Civic Center branch located at 365 F Street and the South Chula Vista branch at 389 Orange Avenue.

Free Tax Assistance Now Available at Chula Vista Libraries |

This tax season don't deal with the frustration of misplaced forms and tax publications or struggle to answer tax questions. To help residents with their taxes, the Chula Vista Public Library has tax assistance offered by trained volunteers under the auspices of AARP, as well as paper copies of many tax forms and instruction booklets.
