Chula Vista Police Dispatchers are civilians motivated
to work shifts, around-the-clock. The Public Safety Dispatch
Center handles various levels of calls for police assistance.
Police Dispatchers are trained to take emergency and routine telephone
calls from community members and visitors and to communicate effectively with police officers in the field. Call information is entered into a
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and then radio dispatched out
to police officers in the city.
Police Dispatchers are trained annually in classes required by
the State of California's Police Officers Standards and Training
Program. Ideal candidates for employment as a Police Dispatcher have the ability to remain
calm when coordinating difficult situations, enjoys working with people, excels at problem-solving, embraces evolving technology,
is proficient at multi-tasking.
