Safety
Commission
The Safety Commission is comprised of seven Chula Vista residents
who serve without pay and who have been appointed by the City Council.
The Commission meets each month and has
the responsibility of conducting public hearings on matters related
to public safety. The public is welcome to attend any meeting and speak out during the public hearing portion of any item. There is also an Oral Communications portion at the beginning of the meeting where citizens may speak for up to three minutes about traffic safety-related items. Fill out a "Request to Speak" form (available in the lobby) and submit to the Recording Secretary at the start of the meeting.
On March 14, 1995, the City Council adopted a policy granting additional
authority to the City Engineer on matters of public safety heard
before the Safety Commission. The policy indicates that most of
the decisions reached at these meeting are considered final. An
appeal process was included in this new policy and staff may be
contacted regarding the conditions of the appeal process.
