Accomplishments
- Allocated more than $81,000 in the past 2 years to providing free aquatic and fitness programs for Chula Vista Youth.
- Since 2006 the Friends have provided funding for 3,319 predominantly low-income 4th graders to attend swim lessons for 2 weeks.
- Have worked with the Recreation Department to preserve the City of Chula Vista’s award winning Fun to be Fit Program, which provides free exercise classes to youth and seniors.
- Worked with the Olympic Training Center to sponsor the Chula Vista Fun Run, which raised more than $12,000 for other non-profit organizations that
- Partnered with the City of Chula Vista and the San Diego County Aquatic Council to develop the WARN (Water Awareness in Residential Neighborhood) as a community water safety education program.
