The
Storm Drain Maintenance Program provides cleaning and maintenance services to residents and the public so they can have flood protection and improved water quality and the City is in compliance with environmental standards.
 Crews maintain normal flow of over 260 miles of storm pipes, over 13,000 inlets/catch basins, and over 340,000 square feet of unlined
and lined drainage channels and culverts to: a) reduce the risk
of flooding during winter storms, b) prevent contaminants from entering
the Bay or other water courses, c) eliminate potential health hazards,
d) meet State standards for siltation basins and the Bonita Long
Canyon Dam, and e) improve the appearance and image of the City.
